Partial Hospitalization Program
Some seasons call for more than a weekly appointment. A partial hospitalization program sits in that honest middle ground: intensive, structured care during the day, with the comfort of your own bed at night. It's a real step forward when you need more support than outpatient counseling can give, but round-the-clock care isn't the right fit.
We built our PHP around the rhythms of real life in the Hill Country. People come here holding jobs, raising families, and caring for neighbors—and they leave each evening with tools they can actually use at their own kitchen table. Recovery doesn't happen in a bubble. It happens in the places you live.

What Our Partial Hospitalization Program Involves
A typical day in our PHP is full, but it's not frantic. You'll spend most of the day with us—usually five days a week—moving through a schedule built around evidence-based therapies, group sessions, and one-on-one counseling. Mornings often begin with a check-in and group work, followed by individual therapy, educational sessions on the science of addiction and relapse prevention, and skill-building exercises that help you handle triggers, cravings, and the stress that accompanies early recovery.
Throughout the week, we also make room for the things that don't fit on a whiteboard: family sessions to repair trust, planning for the transition back to work or daily routines, and honest conversations about what comes next. Because you go home each evening, everything you practice here gets tested in real life that same night—and then we work through what happened, together, the next morning. That loop of practice and reflection is where lasting change takes root.
Why Choose a Partial Hospitalization Program
Structure Without Isolation
You get the intensity and rhythm of daily treatment while staying connected to your home, family, and community.
Real-World Practice
Each evening at home becomes a chance to apply what you learned that day, with support waiting the next morning to help you process it.
A Strong Therapeutic Community
You'll sit alongside others in the same stretch of road, and that shared honesty builds accountability that outlasts the program itself.
A Smoother Step Down
PHP creates a natural bridge between higher levels of care and independent living, so you never have to leap blindly back into daily life.
Family Involvement
Loved ones can take part in the process, learning how to support recovery without enabling old patterns.
Speak to a real person.
How the Program Works
- A Conversation First We start with a confidential assessment to understand your history, your health, and what kind of support will actually help. No pressure, no judgment—just a clear picture of where you are.
- A Plan Built Around You Together we shape a treatment plan that fits your life: your schedule, your obligations, and the specific patterns behind your drinking. No two plans look exactly alike.
- Immersive Daily Treatment You attend structured programming most weekdays—group therapy, individual counseling, and skills work—then return home each evening to practice what you're learning.
- Ongoing Support After As the program winds down, we help you plan the next stretch: continuing care, support groups, and check-ins so you're never left standing at the trailhead alone.
Who a Partial Hospitalization Program Is For
PHP is for people who need serious, daily support for alcohol misuse but have a stable, supportive place to live and no need for 24-hour medical monitoring. Many of our clients have tried to cut back on their own and found it didn't stick. Others are stepping down from inpatient or detox care and want a bridge before returning fully to everyday routines. If withdrawal symptoms are behind you or manageable, and home is a safe environment, PHP often hits the mark.
It's also for families watching someone they love struggle. If you've noticed drinking escalating—missed work, growing secrecy, health changes, or repeated failed attempts to quit—this level of care may be what finally provides enough structure to turn things around. The kindest thing you can do is ask.
Questions We Hear Often
How is a partial hospitalization program different from inpatient rehab?
Inpatient rehab means living at the facility around the clock. In a PHP, you receive intensive treatment during the day—often five days a week—then go home each evening. You get similar therapeutic depth without stepping away from your life completely.
Can I keep working while in the program?
Most clients pause or adjust work during PHP, since the daily schedule is substantial. That said, many people return to work as they transition toward less intensive care, and we'll help you plan that step thoughtfully.
How long does the program usually last?
It varies by person, but many clients spend several weeks in PHP before stepping down to less intensive outpatient care. Your treatment team will review your progress regularly and adjust the plan as your footing grows steadier.
Will my family be involved?
If it's helpful and safe, yes—we encourage family participation through dedicated sessions and education. Recovery touches everyone in a household, and healing tends to hold better when loved ones understand the process and their role in it.
